How is it Transmitted to Humans?

The UK Health Protection Agency says the Monkeypox virus infection is not easily spread from person to person. The CDC reports that in 1958, Monkeypox was given the name Monkeypox after two outbreaks of the virus in colonies where monkeys were kept for research. In 1970, this virus was detected in humans 50 years ago in the Congo.

According to the WHO, the infection can only be spread through direct contact with the blood, body fluids or mucus of an infected animal. It has also been reported that the infection is more likely to occur when the meat of an infected animal is eaten undercooked.
