Google, has been publishing doodles for the most special achievers on their birthdays. In this case, on July 18, Google released a doodle celebrating the birthday of German physicist Oskar Sala. Born in 1910, today is Oskar Sala’s 112th birthday.

He electrified the world of television, radio and film by creating sound effects on a musical instrument called a mix-trautonium.
Who is this Sala?
Sala was born in 1910 in Greece, Germany. His mother was a singer and his father was an ophthalmologist who was also a musician. At the age of 14, Sala began composing and composing songs on instruments such as the violin and piano.
Oskar Sala and Trautonium:
After hearing about trautonium for the first time, Oskar Sala was fascinated by its possibilities and the technology the tool offered. He then learned to master the trautonium as his life’s ambition.
This inspired him to study music along with physics in school. This inspired Oskar Sala to develop his own instrument called compound-dratonium. The design of the mix-trautonium is so unique that it is capable of playing multiple sounds or voices at the same time.
A composer, with his educational background as an electrical engineer, he created electronic music. It made his music stand out from others. His famous works include Rosemary (1959) and The Birds (1962).
He received many awards for his musical talent. In 1995, he donated his original compound-dratonium to the German Museum for Contemporary Technology.
Sala also created the quartet-trautonium, the concert trautonium and the volksstratonium. His efforts in electronic music opened up a new avenue called subharmonics. Through his dedication and creativity, he became a one-man orchestra.
