Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26th July every year. The soldiers of our country gave victory the country by fighting valiantly against the Pakistani soldiers who invaded the border of the country in the shivering cold. Kargil Victory Day is observed every year to remember those soldiers and to honor the living Kargil soldiers.
Kargil war in 1999 is the most serious war between India and Pakistan to date. The Kargil war started on 3rd May 1999 and lasted until 26th July. India detected the infiltration of Pakistani soldiers and then the war started. Kargil war had 3 phases.
Pakistan sent its troops and paramilitary forces to the Indian side of the LoC under ‘Operation Badr.’ Finding this, the Indian Army launched a successful bombing attack on the illegally occupied positions of Pakistan.
This war was named Operation Vijay. This battle took place between the Indian Army and Pakistan Army. India won the war. During the Kargil War, the entire nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari rallied behind our soldiers.
The context of the war
The entire battle took place in an area of heavy snowfall. As this area was very dangerous, the Indian soldiers faced the challenge bravely and faced the war.
Air Force
The Indian Air Force was instrumental in the success of Operation Vijay. From a height of 32,000 feet, it monitored the occupation camps of Pakistan and the infiltration of Mujahideen and informed the Indian Army. Indian Air Force successfully bombed Pakistan’s illegally occupied posts.
Kargil War
With the help of the Indian Air Force, India captured the Tiger Hill region in July. After this, India took over the areas occupied by Pakistan. In the second week of July, India cruised to victory in the Kargil region by capturing all the seats.
Declaration of Victory
India has completely captured all the places, starting from Tiger Hill, Rolling Hill, Batra Top, and Srinagar Leh National Highway, which were held by Pakistan. Kargil Victory Day was declared on 26th July after Pakistan Army was completely routed. On July 26, 1999, Pakistani troops were forced to withdraw from their occupied Indian territory, ending the war in favor of India.
Awards to Soldiers
In the Kargil war, we lost 527 soldiers and regained our territories. 1,363 soldiers were seriously injured in this war. 700 people were killed on the Pakistani side. Many awards were given to the soldiers who died heroically in the war.
